Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) has unveiled plans for a £28 million terminal expansion.
The development will be part of a five-year £70 million investment into the Yorkshire-based airport from Bridgepoint Capital.
It will potentially double passenger numbers and will create over 2,000 jobs, while the terminal expansion involves a two storey extension to the landside face of the current terminal.
"We will be creating modern, spacious and service-focused facilities designed to make the airport easy and convenient to use," commented John Parkin, the airport's chief executive.
He said that the extension will provide "impressive new facilities".
Mr Parkin added that the airport was determined to offer passengers top airport design and service quality for those in the region, while he looked forward to hearing the opinions of the people in the area also.
Last month, the airport announced a new route to Dalaman for next summer from the airliner Jet2.com.
