Syntopix signs compound rights deal

Syntopix has announced it has given the rights of a new chemical compound, which is currently being clinically tested, to a world leader in marketing health care brands.
According to the terms of the agreement, the unnamed company has the first rights of refusal to discuss a deal for the development and commercialisation of the compound.
AIM-listed Bradford-based skin care specialist Syntopix will get paid throughout the clinical phase.
Syntopix's chief executive Stephen Jones said: "I am delighted that we have signed this agreement with a global leader in personal care.
"Hygiene and personal care has become increasingly important to consumers and the market opportunity for effective antimicrobials is growing. We continue to look forward to working together with our partners to see Syntopix's compounds in well known consumer brands."
The company said the deal is in line with its strategy to find potentially interesting compounds and collaborate with healthcare and cosmetic companies to develop them.
Syntopix - which has developed more than 2,200 compounds for treating skin conditions, including acne, oral hygiene and hair care - has signed a similar deal with Sinclair Pharma earlier this year.
