Rotherham's Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) has topped a recent poll for the most demonstrabky successful UK regeneration project ever.
The poll which was carried out by ‘Regeneration & Renewal Magazine on their blog, saw the AMP, which is a joint venture involving mining firm UK Coal and regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, receive over 40% of the final votes.
Salford Quays was second (26 per cent) and Sherwood Energy Village in Nottinghamshire was third (11 per cent).
Regeneration & Renewal asked a panel of experts to nominate schemes from the past 30 years that they believe offer objective evidence of great success, and which would not have worked without public sector intervention. The magazine’s online readership then voted for the final winner.
The AMP offers a range of investment and development opportunities for research organisations and high-tech companies involved in precision manufacturing and advanced materials technology processes. This includes start-ups, university spin-outs and large organisations planning to expand or relocate.
