Yorkshire SMBs to get a boost

A partnership between two organisations will help small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) in Yorkshire gain access to the funds they need.
South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) and Donbac have joined forces to offer a microloan, which will offer loans of between £1,000 to £5,000 to start-up businesses, or those companies that have been operating for up to six months.
For firms that have been running for six months or over, the Donbac Microloan can offer up to £15,000 of funds.
"It is a significant step for small enterprises in South Yorkshire that they now have wider access to microloan funding to help them establish," said Tony Goulbourn, chief executive of SYIF.
He added that current economic factors will affect small businesses' ability to acquire financial backing and that the Donbac Microloan could help.
The SYIF offers seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments, and the European Regional Development Fund and Yorkshire Forward are investors in the fund that the body uses.
