The Halifax-based IT services group 365 iT has snapped up 5i Limited, a provider of Unified Communications (UC) services.
According to the 365 iT chairman Peter McLean, UC is of increasing importance to the company.
In addition to expanding through targeting rivals, the Yorkshire firm also aims to expand organically at a level of 15 per cent or more each year.
Commenting on the acquisition of 5i Limited, he described it as the "next step in the evolution of our service portfolio".
"The deal enables 365 iT to focus on its core strengths and to deliver UC services and solutions to a growing number of UK businesses including our existing substantial customer base," he stated.
Managing director of 5i Peter Howells said being taken over was a "natural progression" for the business.
UC aims to simplify and streamline the often myriad arrays of different methods of communicating found in many workplaces
